CITY RIOTS have kicked many musical goals since their inception in late 2008. Triple J play? Check. SXSW? Check. CMJ Music Marathon? Check. For this indie-pop band, this is only the beginning. It seems things aren’t letting up for the Adelaide four-piece with this year in full swing, with CITY RIOTS set to show off their wares supporting THE GET UP KIDS nationwide.
Way too many quiet parts mixed with way too many loud bits and you have the basic recipe to all things WE SET SAIL. With a 3rd and 4th release due out before the end of 2011, the Brisbane four-piece will be gracing the stage as opening support for THE GET UP KIDS. In Sydney, BETWEEN THE DEVIL AND THE DEEP are currently gearing up to release their highly anticipated debut full-length album and bringing their live set to The Metro.
Starting out as a tropical-themed party band, THE HAWAIIAN ISLANDS have quickly become one of Melbourne’s most exhilarating and all-round-awesome live acts. Blending surf guitar, garage punk and catchy-as-hell vocal melodies they will be sailing into Billboard on the S.S Tropicana to bash tunes out in support of THE GET UP KIDS. Raw, fierce, brutally honest and insightful, PAPER ARMS are no gimmicks, no bullshit and will be delivering a slab of energetic, anthemic, chorus driven rock at Fowlers Live of Tuesday 9 August.
“There Are Rules, indeed — The Get Up Kids wrote them.” - Consequence Of Sound
It’s been over ten years since five kids from Kansas City, USA crashed the party of every punk-leaning teen worldwide with their breathless hooks and feverish intensity. In the blink of an eye THE GET UP KIDS were suddenly the darlings of the underground, cementing their significance with 1999′s seminal ‘Something To Write Home About’… “It’s original, powerful, aggressive, heartfelt… it is simply the greatest pop punk album ever written.” - Sputnik Music
After famously calling it a day in March 2005, THE GET UP KIDS stunned the music world in November 2008 by announcing their reformation. Their comeback album ‘There Are Rules’ challenges the foundations of a scene they helped build and it “truly stands out in the members’ collective catalogs as a completely unique entity, and one that should be viewed as nothing less than an absolutely stunning success” - Alternative Press.
Visiting Australian shores this August, one of the world’s most beloved bands THE GET UP KIDS will be bringing that same attitude and depth, but more adhesive and endearing than before, “All in all, they are one band that should not be missed at any opportunity.” – Faster Louder
